• Hustings heads-up: 28 April

For those who might be interested, the BBC is holding a Radio Devon mayoral ‘hustings’ on the evening of Tuesday 28 April 2015. It is likely to be held in Torquay, possibly at the town hall, and I will post up the actual location as soon as I know. Timings are 6.30 for 7.00pm, and I imagine it will carry on until around 9.00pm.

If you would like to attend, please email devonelection@bbc.co.uk; you will need to fill out a short form in order to be accepted as part of the audience.

In the meantime, here’s the latest polling results from YouGov for Torbay, which has UKIP on 26.7 per cent.

If you head over to UKIP Torbay, you can read a review of Tuesday’s Princess Theatre mayoral hustings. Tomorrow, I’ll be contributing a piece to that site on last night’s excellent hustings at the Torquay Town Centre Community Partnership – and many thanks to Fr Harry Jeavons for his work in putting on that event. It was great to be able to get face-to-face with residents.

I haven’t got any photographs of this week’s events, as we thought we had lost our ‘campaign camera’. However, the lovely and enterprising David at the Princess Theatre found a little red Canon on Tuesday night, replaced the batteries and took a look at what was on it, recognised yours truly, looked up my details and telephoned my better half – whose camera it actually is – to say it was safe and sound.

It’s not expensive or fashionable, but it’s one of Sue’s favourite things and she was really upset at having mislaid it. She’s managed to ascertain what his favourite type of chocolate is, so when I’m down at the seafront on Saturday morning, I shall pop in to the Princess Theatre box office to retrieve the camera in exchange for a little thank you present from Sue for David!

That’s yet another thing that’s so great about our Bay: there really is such a splendid feeling of community about the whole place.
