• Mayoral results

Here are the results from yesterdays’ mayoral election:

There was no clear-cut winner at the first stage; rather, there was a three-way fight, with yours truly just missing out on a play-off spot.

    The first results were:

    Gordon Oliver, Conservative: 15,354 (25.1%)

    Dennis Brewer, LibDem: 11,788 (19.2%)

    Julien Parrott, UKIP, 11,325 (18.5%)

    Darren Cowell, Lab: 8,119 (13.3%)

    Susie Colley: 7,541 (12.3%)

    Martin Brook: 5,846 (9.5%)

    Pamela Neale: 1,249 (2%)

So Gordon Oliver and Dennis Brewer went into a second round, where the votes of all the second preferences of the other candidates were counted, and the final results were:

    Gordon Oliver 19,343

    Dennis Brewer 18,722

Of the second votes, Gordon Oliver received 3,989, and Dennis Brewer received 6,934. This means that, of the 34,080 first votes for other candidates, 23,157 didn’t have either of these two as a second preference.

Thank you so much to everyone who supported me.
