• A message to Ellacombe residents

These are the results from yesterday’s Torbay Council election for our ward. The final result didn’t come in until almost 7pm last night (and the count verification started at 10pm last Thursday night, so it’s been a very long three days!).

I am hugely honoured that you have again selected me to be your councillor. I promise that I will continue to serve you to the absolute best of my ability – and I vow to put Ellacombe, its residents and its needs above all else in my council work for the next four years.

As always, you do not need to wait for a ‘surgery’ if you need my help (I know that the things that are important to you cannot wait for the ‘convenience’ of a half-hour surgery every month or so), so you can either call in or telephone me six days a week at my business in Ellacombe – and if I’m not there, you know that you can count on Sue to take a message for me or, in many cases, help you herself if you are happy for that. You are also welcome to use the e-form on the Contact Me page on this site - you will find all my contact details there.

The Council's media team tweeted and posted results to social media as they came in throughout the whole three-day exercise

As you will probably know by now, the Conservatives have taken 25 seats, the Lib Dems now have seven, I am the only UKIP representative, and there are three independents in the Berry Head ward of Brixham. You can be certain that I will continue to be an outspoken champion for all of you in Ellacombe, and I will challenge the Tories and be a thorn in their side when necessary.

I also want you, my fellow Ellacombe residents and my friends, to be the first to know that I will not be joining any group at the council. You have put your trust in me, and I do not feel that I should dilute my message or my important work of standing up for you by being part of any formal arrangement with any other councillors. You know me: I will work with any councillor of any party or none to get the best for you, and I have demonstrated that in my previous two terms as your councillor.

Rest assured, I will be just as straight-talking and outspoken as ever. You have my word!
